Obsidia Cavern is a seemingly-active volcano located on Obsidia Island — an outlying isle only reached through the Double Decca. Located off the coast of Roria, it is too far out to be seen on the Roria Town Map. Being a smaller version of Mt. Igneus, this volcano has a spacious interior and there is an elevated area where the player can encounter Legendary Pokémon Moltres, lying in wait on top.

Notable Events[]

Catching Moltres[]

VS Moltres

Moltres on the highest platform near a "lava-fall" in Obsidia Cavern.

As the player enters the cavern, he or she will be able to spot a tall rock structure. In the centre of this rock structure, Moltres can be seen waiting for the player on the topmost platform. The player must climb the slope that wraps around the tall rock structure to encounter Moltres. The player only has 1 chance to catch Moltres, so save beforehand and turn off Autosave. Moltres is very difficult to catch, so the player is recommended to buy a lot of Dusk Balls from Poké Ball Emporium before proceeding for the battle.

Pokémon[]

Wild Pokémon[]

Note: Rarity levels are estimations according to this scale and might be subject to changes due to different encounter assessment results. If there are any Pokémon with low catch rates, the possibility to flee or requirement of gaining happiness to evolve, recommended Poké Balls for that Pokémon will be shown with the corresponding bag sprite under the Pokémon's name.

Trivia[]

  • Obsidia Cavern is possibly a reference to Faldera Volcano, Oblivia in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs. Both are active volcanoes on offshore islands and feature Moltres in the summit craters.
  • The name of this cavern is derived from obsidian, which is a kind of naturally-occurring volcanic glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock.
  • Both this area and Mt. Igneus are also home to Legendary Pokémon, with Groudon residing in the summit crater of Mt. Igneus and Heatran living in the deepest part of Igneus Depths.
